HISTORY

Eye, in Suffolk, is one of those rare Suffolk towns where history is woven into everyday life. From medieval streets and landmark buildings to stories hidden in plain sight, Eye is full of hidden gems.

It’s an ideal Suffolk day trip for anyone curious to explore the past, while still enjoying independent retailers, cafés and bars. In fact, why not extend your visit with an overnight stay?

GETTING HERE

Eye, Suffolk is easy to reach, yet feels wonderfully tucked away. Set in the heart of north Suffolk, the town makes an ideal base for a relaxed break or a rewarding Suffolk day trip.

The nearest train station is Diss, with regular Greater Anglia www.greateranglia.co.uk services connecting to London, Norwich and Ipswich. From Diss, Eye is a short taxi or bus journey.

By car, Eye is well connected via the A140 from Ipswich and Norwich, and the A143 from Bury St Edmunds. Typical journey times are around 40 minutes from Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds, and around 50 minutes from Norwich, making Eye an easy addition to a holiday itinerary or a spontaneous day out.

With your favourite Suffolk coastal destinations less than an hour’s drive away, what’s not to love?

Local bus services are provided by Simonds www.simonds.co.uk, offering links between Eye and surrounding Suffolk towns and villages.

PARKING

Parking in Eye is simple and
convenient. There is free off street car parking located behind the library on Cross Street and also in Buckshorn Lane, both within easy walking distance of the town centre. Additional on-street parking is available along Broad Street
outside the Co-op (we have two
Co-ops!) and bakery.

Disabled parking spaces are available, and the library car park also includes electric vehicle charging points, making Eye accessible and welcoming for all visitors.
